Bintan Mangrove is located in the southwest part of Bintan Resorts.
The mangrove forest is separated by a winding river, 6km long, known as Sebung River. The water in the river coming from a lake on the hillside in which the water is from the rain instead of water springs.
A long time ago, the residents used the mangrove roots as charcoal and building material. But since tourism becomes a major revenue of the island, the mangrove forest is reserved and become one of the island’s tourist sites.
Now, Sebung river is home to hundreds of wildlife and fauna species. A nature lover would find this place perfect.
You can take a boat to explore the mangrove forest. Along the river, you will see thick mangrove roots, holding the soil firmly to prevent the erosion and safeguard the coast of Bintan island. You can also see lizards and beware of the mangrove snakes curled up on the trees. The river itself is home to many fishes, clams, and many more.
The tour feels like an adventure into the amazon.
You can learn and study the variety of plants and animals in the forest area. There are four types of mangroves in this area.
You can also try catching a fish using traditional tools, such as “bubu” (bamboo basket to catch the fish) and “tangkul” (square fishnet tied to two bamboos/woods).
