Spain, Palma de Mallorca – We stopped in Palma for seven days. It is convenient to travel from the city to the surrounding area, and the capital of Mallorca itself is rich in attractions. Only a busy highway separated the hotel’s modern high-rise building from the beach. A few minutes and here it is the sea.
In the evening, after the heat of the day subsides, it is so pleasant to walk along the embankment. A fresh breeze blows from the sea, white yachts are at rest. It is still quite light, but light clouds are already turning pink in the rays of the setting sun.
The island is beautiful not so much for its beaches, but for its marvellous nature and medieval villages that have retained their unique charm. The capital of Mallorca is famous for its cathedral, numerous old churches and masterpieces of modernism.
The most important and beautiful attraction on the island of Palma de Mallorca is the Palma Cathedral also La Seu in the Gothic style, founded in 1229. La Seu Cathedral is located in the southern part of the island, almost at the very coast. The building is one of the largest monuments of Gothic architecture in Southern Europe. Unfortunately, we did not manage to get into the cathedral itself, but its scale and external architecture caused a lot of positive emotions and admiration.
Along the perimeter of the entire island, there are a lot of viewing platforms and bays, where both tourists and locals come to admire nature and swim in more deserted places. There are usually a lot of people on the beaches, almost all beaches are free. The city itself is very clean, palm trees and flowers grow everywhere, the eye rejoices. The locals have a lot of yachts on which they sail around the entire island.
We also decided to rent a car and go to a city (locality) called Valldemossa, which is located in the mountains in the north of the island. This town is called the pearl of Majori, it is very small and cozy, on the streets of the city there is an abundance of different plants. The city has very narrow and small streets, but it is simply impossible to get lost in them. The city has its own patroness – Catalina Thomas. As a little girl, a monument to her was erected on the streets of the town. In the center of the city stands the Carthusian monastery of Jesus of Nazareth, founded in 1399. Also adjacent to the monastery is a garden of extraordinary beauty. The garden itself is not very large, but on a hot summer day, it is a pleasure to walk through it. There are many different plants and a large number of monuments.
