Isn’t it just perfect and a dream come true, waking up each morning to enticing views? The gentle sound of the lake flowing and the Swiss Alps all around. Who wouldn’t love such a holiday?
Switzerland has always been popular for its breath-taking sights of the Clearwater lakes, Alps mountain range, and its greenery was a treat for my eyes. Camping in Switzerland is a thrilling adventure that you will remember and cherish for the rest of your lives.
The best thing about camping is that you drive to other places and never have to worry about food, sleep, or going to the washroom. You are packed with everything you need and you feel at home.
As soon as we (husband & I) crossed borders and entered Switzerland, I was astonished by the beautiful scenery, and believe me, it’s never enough. The further we drove the more striking waterfalls and mountains passed by.
Our first stop was the charming and most famous city of Switzerland, Interlaken. No words are enough to describe the beauty of this city, I felt like I’m in a fairy-tale. We then found a perfect spot to park our Camper in one of Interlaken’s Camping sites. I would recommend staying on this camping site as it provides a really good service where you can have a peaceful camping time.
The streets of Interlaken are packed with people all year long. You can spot people from all around the world in this small city who come here to enjoy the topography of Interlaken. In the city center, a variety of shops are an attraction for the tourists where you end up buying something beautiful and lastly not to forget the eat-outs with multiple kinds of cuisines.
If you have no fear of heights and are adventurous then I would recommend going for paragliding and hiking, the topmost activities in Switzerland during summers, and skiing in winter.
Next on, we were so eager to hit the most remarkable point of Interlaken, the Harder Kulm. Hardly 5 minutes’ walk from our camping site was the funicular station and the funicular takes 10 minutes to reach the mountain of Harder Kulm. The funicular has huge windows providing a vast view of the city as you progress towards the top.
The viewpoint on Harder Kulm, built for the tourists is the best spot to experience incredible landscapes from a height of 1322m.
A small village just 37minutes’ drive away from the city of Interlaken, located in a valley with a scenic view of the mountains all around is the village of Lauterbrunnen which hosts thousands of tourists each year and is famous for its waterfalls and panoramic-catchy views.
After 30 minutes’ drive from Interlaken, we reached the village of Lauterbrunnen, also known as the valley of 72 waterfalls, admired for its cliffs and grassland. Although, it’s a small village but has every element that gathers people to come to Lauterbrunnen and it compels you to stay and adore the small town. A parking bay right in front of the famous waterfall was very convenient to park our camper.
Staubbach Falls- Lauterbrunnen
We wanted to get a closer look at the Staubbach waterfall, so we climbed the dark and narrowed stairs carved into the rocky mountain leading to a viewpoint in the mountain from where you can observe the mesmerizing valley. After a flight of stairs, we were welcomed by a commanding view of Lauterbrunnen and could feel the coolness of the waterfall.
Valley of Lauterbrunnen
At one of the restaurants in Lauterbrunnen, we found some delicious potato dumplings and a classy sandwich with alpine cheese.
Located in Lauterbrunnen, are the magnificent Trümmelbach Falls. Carrying a huge amount of water from the glaciers, the falls can be accessed through a tunnel lift built in the mountain. The sounds of gushing water, the corroding sounds of mountain rocks felt melodious at the same time. It was summertime but the tons of melted water rushing through the mountain and water sprays resulted in a temperature drop inside and it was a great experience for me. The Trümmelbach Falls is a must-see attraction in the Jungfrau region.
Trümmelbach Falls
Summertime is the best time to visit Switzerland if you are planning on camping. My camping trip to Switzerland was an unforgettable holiday and the picturesque route of the Swiss Alps gives a soothing and relaxing time to the soul. When you travel alongside your partner, everything feels so romantic in this beautiful country. Switzerland is a unique place like no other and is a pure example of what a quality vacation for nature lovers looks like.
