See the beauty and stories of the churches and experience a pilgrimage here in the Philippines from North to South
Here in the Philippines, as a Roman Catholic country we are proud to present our historic and awesome churches. There are a lot of churches built within the Spanish colonization and most of them are still standing and preserved for the tourism industry.
- Here are some of the churches located in the North of Luzon:
- San Agustin Church, the oldest church in the country. Located in General Luna, Intramuros, Manila. It was built 1571 by the Order of St. Augustine and it is now a World Heritage Site.
- Manila Cathedral, also located in Intramuros, Manila. It was built in 1571 by the Archbishop of Mexico, Alonso de Montúfar, to establish Christianity as the spiritual and religious administration in newly colonized Philippines.
- Barasoain Church, is a Roman Catholic church built in 1888, in Malolos, Bulacan. It is about 42 kilometers away from Manila. Having earned the title as the "Cradle of Democracy in the East, the most important religious building in the Philippines". Our Lady of Peace and
- Good Voyage, located in Antipolo, Rizal. Built in 1626, is a 17th century wooden image of the Blessed Virgin Mary venerated in the Philippines. The image, a Black Madonna that represents the Immaculate Conception, is enshrined in Antipolo Cathedral in the Sierra Madre mountains east of Metro Manila.
- And here are some of the churches located in the South of Luzon:
- Sister-Servants to the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration, located in Tagaytay, Cavite. It was founded by the German priest Blessed Arnold Janssen. He set up the Pink Sisters to support by prayers and sacrifice the first two missionary foundations that he established. Because it is located in Tagaytay, you can feel the cooling breeze of this place and it feels more than enough to calm the heart of a soul searching for peace and serenity.
- Calaruega Church, located at Nasugbu, Batangas. It was founded in 1995 and currently under the administration of the Fathers and Brothers of the Dominican Province of the Philippines. Because it is a well-known tourist destination, transportation to Caleruega Church is easy both for private and public commuters.
- Kamay ni Hesus Healing Church, a sacred grounds and pilgrimage site for everyone who wants to to repent, give thanks and pray for healing. It is a 5-hectare shrine constructed on February 2002 and located at Brgy. Tinamnan, Lucban, Quezon that includes Via Dolorosa Grotto, Healing Church, Noah’s Ark, Sea of Galilie, Holy Family Park, and the Pastoral Center founded by the Healing Priest, Fr. Joey Faller.
- National Shrine and Parish of Saint Padre Pio, commonly known as Padre Pio Shrine, is a parish church and pilgrimage site situated at Brgy. San Pedro in Santo Tomas, Batangas Philippines. It is consecrated to the Italian Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.
- There are a lot of places here in the Philippines that can be so exciting to visit. Cant wait to share my knowledge with you as our Tourism slogan said, IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!
