Fushimi Inari Jinja is located on the mountain in Maruyama area and was established in 1884. It is a prime place if you want to take some beautiful photos of traditional Japan. The shrine is available all year round but is especially beautiful in autumn surrounded by colourful leaves and during winter when its characteristic red torii corridor is accentuated by fallen snow.

A Visit to the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Sapporo, Japan
Sapporo - When you reach the shrine area from the bottom a majestic torii red gate with the shrine’s name welcomes you. Following up the mountain is a corridor of slightly smaller torii that leads you to the main shrine building. Enjoy the walk and take some pictures. It’s the most picturesque part of the shrine. At the top of the corridor say hello to two foxes standing by the main shrine building. Take your time there to clap your hands, bow and wish for good fortune to the local gods. If you are interested in full shrine experience, there is an office building next to the main building where you can buy o-mikuji fortune strips of paper and ema wooden plaques to write your wishes and hang on site. Fushimi Inari Shrine in Sapporo is pretty small and located out of the city centre but definitely a must place to visit. There is a free parking area you can use.
