Mount Kerinci is a volcano located in Indonesia.It is surrounded forest vegetation and endangered species Sumatran tiger and rhinoceros. At 3,805 meters above sea level is considered to be the highest volcano in Indonesia.
The Trip
- From Padang airport it will take 7-8 hours drive to Kerinci. During the drive we took some stops see some views.
- Local foods are great at a reasonable price.
- After long drive for the whole day we did not managed to look around Kerinci because we need to prepare for the next day.
Starting Point
- We meet our guide at 7:30 A.M. for briefing on the hike. Also check the things that need to bring up.
- We also meet a few locals and they are very friendly.
- Climbing was not easy as the forest is a bit muddy.
- We settled our lunch at our first stop 2 hours of non stop ascend.
- We continue to push to our next stop to sleep for the night.
- The trail was getting difficult.
- After 6 hours of battling going up, we finally reach at Shelter 2 to rest for the day and set up our tent.
- Cooked as usual for our dinner.
Sunrise
- We started at 2:00 AM to catch the sunrise to catch at the summer, however we managed to catch it along the way to summit.
- I will truly will miss and love to visit again this mountain. For the gangs that I was with it was good laugh and hike.
